My name is Rob Paone and I’m the founder of Career Dreaming. I have a unique background in recruiting, software sales, technology management and overall corporate recruiting practices that has allowed me to really understand the job market for college students, recent graduates and mid-level professionals. I genuinely enjoy helping friends and strangers out who are looking to land a new job, get started in their career or just take the next step in their current role.
But rather than take the usual spin of the traditional “Career Gurus”, I’m just looking to help you out and offer my assistance as a regular dude. The job market can be a difficult place to navigate and it can be tough to find your dream career (Hell, it took me a little bit of time to find where I wanted to concentrate), but it’s all do-able, with some solid advice and encouragement. So let’s get things moving for you in the right direction!

If you’re here, you might be wondering why I’m at all qualified to be offering you any type of career advice or how I got here. Well, I’m a former technical recruiter and current enterprise sales professional, with experience in the technology staffing industry as well as the ERP and recruiting software industries. I graduated from Elon University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Marketing and Sales, but I’ve been on the grind since well before that. I always like to stay on the bleeding edge of things, so shortly after realizing that I shouldn’t and couldn’t stop learning, I applied for and began the Master’s of Science degree program at Northwestern University, which I recently completed in March of 2016.
I’ve recruited and placed technology and HR professionals into some of the world’s largest companies including Cisco, Dell and Oracle, from positions ranging from $10/hr Service Desks to $140,000/yr Vice Presidents of Information Technology. My recruiting background stems from a number of years of experience in the metro Washington DC area, where I was promoted within the first six months of my career and rose into the top 10% of my company in revenue generated. Following my experience in the technical recruiting world, I’ve moved into the software industry, where I’ve held positions at two multi-billion dollar companies, NetSuite and LinkedIn.
